CASE STUDIES

Art-Casso

Founded in 2006, Art-Casso was conceived so that pets and their owners could create paw paintings to cherish without making a mess. In 2010, after purchasing a majority interest in Company, Joanna Sasso, a marketing executive, wanted to revitalize the Company’s image. As a participant in the 2011 Christmas in July showcase, Pet Socialite Events helped her construct a public relations campaign which focused on the paw painting as an activity that enhances the animal-human bond. The snowball effect began with Pet Trend Expert Charlotte Reed demonstrating her dogs’ and cats’ art work on a national morning show which soon after, led to the kits being shown on Live with Regis and Kelly! and Good Morning America. Sasso continues to work with pet branding and marketing expert Charlotte Reed in her private consulting practice. “We enjoy working with Charlotte because she has helped us to think outside the box and to truly create a unique and on trend marketing and public relations campaign for the 2012 year.”

American Digs

American Digs was founded by Erica Beaudry and Brandon Auger, while the two were at Purdue University Business School. The canine apparel company supports the national economy by manufacturing all of their products in the USA. While most pet product manufacturers use a wholesale model as a primary growth strategy, American Digs relies on a direct to consumer sales philosophy. Based on a recommendation from another Pet Socialite Event vendor, the principals decided to participate in the November 2011 Home, Garden & Safety showcase. Although breaking news hindered event attendance, the Company products were featured on national and local TV morning shows and notable blogs throughout the country. After an appearance on Fox & Friends, the Company sold 75 Quilted Puffer Coats at $49 within a two hour time period. According to Erica Beaudry, “The media exposure coupled with sound consulting advice propelled sales to a place that I thought we would be within a year, not after three months in business.”

Wagging Tail Portraits

A graduate of Parsons School of Design in New York City, Sherry Kendall worked as an illustrator and portrait artist for twenty-nine years. For the last seven years, Kendall as the founding artist has delighted pet owners with her ornaments and paintings. After listening to pet trend expert Charlotte Reed discuss Pet Socialite Events and its media showcase as a unique opportunity for pet product companies, manufacturers and designers to meet mainstream media on Sirius XM radio, Kendall called to participate in the holiday showcase which was scheduled the next day. Prior to participating, all vendor products are evaluated by Reed to assure appropriateness, safety and enhancement of the animal-human bond. As a result of her participation in PSE, Kendall’s hand-painted ornaments were selected as the only pet item in O Magazine‘s “Oprah Favorite Things 2011” as well as in an abbreviated version of the list for the online magazine. Once the domino effect kicked in, Kendall and her ornaments were also featured on the Gayle King Show, Good Morning America and Baltimore Sun. Kendall states, “due to the abundance of holiday orders, I will not be able to fulfill them until January 2012."
